     I would just like to comment on the note written
     by S. Hand on this topic.
     
     First, I was pleased to see that the thread caused 
     someone to perform a "walkaround" of their accelerator
     installation.
     I am not an accelerator expert but I was a little
     surprised that an installation could have an operator
     console inside the facility. Seems to be going against
     the grain of requiring interlocks on the doors to me.
     
     I have only been involved in the safety assessment of
     one accelerator facility but one thing that struck me
     was the "laissez-faire" attitude toward safety in the
     operation of the machines that had developed over the years.
     
     I think that Mr. Hand's note should be considered carefully
     by anyone who hasn't taken a look at their accelerator
     installations recently.
