HVL-TVL OPINION Summary

I received a handful of agreements
with this OPINION, and no nays.
Sorry for sounding off on something
about which there is such an uniformity
of opinion.

So why do we continue tabulating HVLs
if everyone agrees the values are
worthless in real applications?

Several additional points were made:

For continuous spectra, typically xrays,
the homogeneity coefficient is used to
quantify the difference in sequential
HVLs.

HVLs are very geometry dependent which
is just another reason not to use a
tabulated value.

I liked Gary Masters description of a
TVL based calculation as a 'napkin-calc'.

A little risk adds spice to life.
