We use a filter paper planchet standard of Co-57 to simulate Tc-99m, with
corrections for abundance of emissions. One can then use a standard of high
enough activity to give good counting statistics for the determination of
efficiency, and compute a quantitative estimate of the LLD. Most nuclear
medical licensees are not equipped, or authorized, to make their own
certified standard sources of radiation.
