Is it worth it??

Radsafers:

IMHO, I don't think we can make too many generalizations about
the relationship of the CHP and the job market. I believe that
this issue is still very facility dependent. For example, at
SLAC, a more experienced HP will still command a higher salary
than a CHP with less experience. I do believe that what the CHP
process will buy you is the following: In this environment of
corporate down-sizing a facility may opt to hire a competent
generalist vs a specialist. It will be the decision of the
facility to decide whether they can use someone who will do
competent level work in a variety HP areas vs a very high level
of expertise in one specific area. It depends on the need of
the facility. I haven't felt that the industry thinks a CHP is
more qualified than a non-CHP,only more generalized; ie, the
employer can realistically expect to use the CHP in a broader
manner.....(why not hire 1 person instaed of 2 or 3).
