Continuous Coverage At NPPs

The Salem Generating Station RP staff is interested in information
on how "Continuous (or Constant) RP Coverage" is applied at other
NPPs. We are investigating ways of reducing O & M costs and
minimizing contractor staffing during outages which would result in
immediate payback.

Your responses to the following questions would be appreciated.
Please reply directly to me at dama@waterw.com. I will compile the
responses and report the results back to the Radsafe community.
Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Under what radiological conditions do you require Continuous
     Coverage?

2. Do you allow an RP technician to provide Continuous Coverage for
more than one job if positive control is maintained? If so, how
     do you define "positive control"?

3. Must line of sight (direct or by camera) be maintained at all
times? If not, how is "positive control" assured?

4. Do you require an RP technician to be present during all breaches
of primary systems? If not, how do you fulfill the requirement to
"survey"? Are prospective evaluations used to satisfy the survey
     requirement?
              Best Regards,

                        Dave Ruyter
