Re: summer radon

During the summer your have more more weather patter changes would
would result in barometric pressure changes. I would think the
barometric pressure may also change slightly with snow storm, but I'm
not sure if it is the same magnitude as a warm weather phenomena.

How much would frozen ground affect the diffusion out of the soil?
Looks like a question for a civil eng.

Dr. David Hintenlang at the University of Florida has done some in
depth radon studies with barometric pressure changes and soil
     diffusion.

Dear Radsafe:

Radon concentrations(and daughter concentrtions) in OUTDOOR air
fluctuate hourly, dialy etc. but most noticably from winter to
summer. What factor (s) are primarily responsible for the
more significant seasonal fluctuations? From limited search of
literature - my first guess would be pressure differentials
(produced by temperature differences between soil and air)
pulling soil gas out of soil more in summer than winter?

Thanks
