Re: dose constraints

Article 7 of the Euratom Directive for Basic Safety Standards for Radiation
Safety refers to Dose Constraints.
1. Dose constraints should be used, where appropriate, within the context of
optimization of radiological protection.
2. Guidance established by each Member State on the appropriate procedures
to be applied to indivuals exposed in accordancew with Article 6 (4) (b)
and (c) may include dose constraints.
(Article 6 refers to justification, optimizationand dose limitation for
practices)

No values for constraints are given, in the Directive, nor are there any
quoted in the Britsih Ionising Radiations regulations.

and 20 mSv/y for the workers. Overall, it is a combination of ICRP60
recommendations and ICRP68 dose conversion factors. Nothing really new in
terms of safety standards.
Note that member countries must adapt their own regulations within 4 years.
