Position:   Radiation Safety Specialist
Department:	Environmental Health and Safety

Description
Support operational health physics activities.  Duties will include
pick-up and processing of radioactive waste, performing monthly and
weekly surveys, distributing and collecting external dosimeters,
performing survey instrument calibrations, making internal dosimetry
measurements, updating procedures, maintaining radioactive material
inventory, updating postings, monitoring outgoing radioactive shipments,
performing sealed source leak tests, and maintaining records in both hard
copy and electronic forms.  Will provide radiation safety training and be
an active member of the First Alert Team.  Will be expected to cross
train in hazardous waste management.

Requirements
BS in Health Physics with 0-2 years experience in radiation safety, or
AS in Health Physics or equivalent military training (e.g., Navy ELT)
with 2-4 years experience.  Familiarity with databases and Macintosh or
PC Microsoft applications.  Must have good oral and written
communication skills, be detail and goal oriented, have excellent
interpersonal skills, and be able to function as a team member.  Ability
to lift 20 pound packages on a daily basis, and to maneuver 55 gallon
drums using mechanical means (forklift or drum dolly).  Must be able to
obtain a valid California drivers license.
