Security and Control Workshop
Hello Radsafers,
Like many academic institutions, The Ohio State University is wrestling with
the problems of security of radioactive materials in research laboratories -
to be in compliance with 10CFR20.1801 and 1802. We were cited in March 1995
when inspectors found a couple of labs unlocked and unattended and we are
going to receive a repeat from our most recent inspection. NRC inspectors
visited research buildings in the evening, doing security sweeps - and of
course found laboratories unlocked and unattended. I recently learned that
Harvard University and Region I, NRC, co-hosted a workshop on security and
control. I would be very interested to hear about the outcome of the
workshop, and any recommendations that were developed.
Does anyone know if any of the other NRC Regions (particularly Region III)
plan on hosting this type of workshop?
Thanks
