I've noticed that few articles exist in this field. 

The following work was presented at the Commission of European
Communities Topical Meeting on Non-destructive assay of
radioactive waste: 
     "Remote Gamma Mapping: Aladin Nuclear Installation Remote
     Activity Location Device" by G. Simonet.

I am not sure that a localization technique based on the
photographic camera principle will satisfy your requirements. The
solution will depend on the required sensitivity, source
strength, time available for a measurement and the dynamics of
the system measured.  There are alternative methods which assist
in mapping radioactive material distributions which do not
require the pinhole technique.
