     Please identify yourself and the source of this information.  It is 
     contrary to information I have received from both the NRC and 
     agreement state personnel regarding the use of exempt items for 
     purposes other than stated in the regulations.

There is no need for a specific license of exemption for the use of a smoke 
detector, or parts
therof, in a class room or anywhere else.
