RE: Well logging/Tracer Operations

In the UK where there is a suspected high exposure, it is normal
practice to call for a chromosome abberation test, which should
be able to determine even quite 'old' excessive exposures.
A recent leukaemia after finger loss from industrial
radiographic source handling was first confirmed by this method,
followed by electron spin resonance on an amputated (medically
necessary) finger joint and, post-mortem, a tooth, confirming
exposure of 5 to 15 Sv.
If the dose was sufficient to cause tumour, the effects
might still be detectable, some years later.
