The bill was killed this last week by the House and is moot for this year
anyway.

An upcoming workshop that will address many of the health concerns you
mentioned is on the very timely topic of risk assessment: The Role of Risk
Assessment in Developing Reasonable Policy and Regulations.  It directly
addresses criticism by the Presidential Commission on Risk Assessment and
