Re: Novel explanations of radiation

The book from which I gave a few quotes yesterday is titled: _A Guide to
Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM)_. It has a copyright
date of 1994 (not 1995). I checked it out of a university library, but
a note on the inside indicated the book was a gift from someone (not the
author). According to the booknotes the geologist author is not a
teacher or professor.

Despite the book's errors (only a few of which were pointed out) there
is no need for a book (or author) burning demonstration (although I once
expressed my opinion of a textbook by tossing it into the classroom
trashcan). Instead efforts can be spend to educate students so they
then will better recognize such misinformation. As to the university
keeping the book on the shelf, I am more concerned that the university
library last year cancelled its subscription to the Health Physics
journal.
