If you are receiving the chest x-ray in the course of your occupational
exposure, then presumably you should wear the badge. If not, then you are
adding a spurious datum to your cumulative occupational radiation exposure
history. Note that the exposure of the body in a typical chest
view/projection is highly non-uniform. The "true" effective dose equivalent
(not just the deep dose equivalent to the entrance side of the [fractional]
body) should be no more than a few millirem, if good practices are followed
by the imaging department.
