Baylor College of Medicine would like to announce the following upcoming
vacancy:

Environmental Safety Specialist I/II (Assistant RSO)-Minimum Salary: $29542

Primary Duties:  Assist the RSO in managing the radioactive material,
radiation-producing machine and non-ionizing radiation safety program.
Duties will include supervising the conduct of surveys in labs using
radioactive material, radiation-producing machines and laser facilities.
Incumbent will also assist in conduct of radiation safety training classes
and laboratory audits.  Performs radioactive surveys and sampling and
analyses as needed.  Will manage the personnel dosimetry program including
the maintenance of dosimetry and bioassay records.  Expected to assist in
other areas of radiation safety and other Office of Environmental Safety
areas of responsibility as needed.  Will provide training to OES personnel
as needed in general and specific radiation safety requirements and
practices.  Assists RSO in assuring compliance with applicable federal,
state and local regulations.  Acts as supervisor of radiation control staff
in absence of RSO.  Responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis as needed.

Required skills and knowledge:  Bachelor's degree in health physics or
closely related discipline with a working knowledge of common computer
applications (e.g., Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Access etc or equivalent).
Minimum of two years full-time experience in a radiation safety program
preferred.  Working knowledge of radiation safety regulations and
requirements.  Both oral and written abilities to communicate effectively.
Good driving history with a valid drivers license and the possibility of
possessing/obtaining a Class C Commercial Drivers License with a hazardous
materials endorsement.
