RE: Radon in urine Part 2

The Canberra Procount gamma spectroscopy software includes QA functions
and daily QC and background counts. We have always performed a daily cal
check but had not been using the daily background check. The recent
experience has pointed out the need for this (actually, the long bkg
count was about 30 days old). I plan on using both daily QC checks and a
more frequent long background count.
We do not count to as exacting standards as is required for low level
environmental samples. As time permits, I have been adding to the QA
operations and tracking of the gamma spect equipment to improve the
capabilities of the system. As much as I enjoy doing the gamma spect
work, it is only one part of the daily activities here.
