Re: SI UNITS
It depends on what you are doing. The revised DOT regs require the use
of SI units, but not NRC or DOE. In fact, 10 CFR 20.2101(a) states
that "Each licensee shall use the units: curie, rad, rem, including
multiples and subdivisions, and shall clearly indicate the units of
all quantities on records required by this part." (This means that if
you use _only_ SI units on records used to document compliance with 10
CFR 20, you have violated 10 CFR 20!) DOE's 10 CFR 835.4 has a similar
statement. I can't speak for any agreement states, but I would imagine
they are similar to 10 CFR 20.
I have not seen anything that would change this, since it would
require a revision to 10 CFR 20.

Fellow Radsafers,
I have heard a rumor that beginning 1 Jan 97, that SI
units will be the new standard in the U.S. Is there any
truth to this? If so, is there any NRC Policy Letter
stating this?
Thanks for the help,
Mike Williamson
