ANSI N14 Writing Groups

ANSI N14 "Packaging and Transportation of Radioactive Materials"
consists of about thirty standards (some of which are no longer in effect)

A list of current standards obtained from ANSI website (sorted):

1: ANSI N14.1-1995 : Nuclear Materials - Uranium Hexafluoride - Packaging
for Transport

2: ANSI N14.5-1987 : Radioactive Materials - Leakage Tests on Packages
for Shipment of Radioactive Materials

3: ANSI N14.6-1993 : Radioactive Materials - Special Lifting Devices for
Shipping Containers Weighing 10,000 Pounds (4500 kg) or More for Nuclear
Materials

4: ANSI N14.19-1986 : Ancillary Features of Irradiated Fuel Shipping
Casks

5: ANSI N14.24-1985 (R1993) : Domestic Barge Transport of Highway Route
Controlled Quantities of Radioactive Materials

6: ANSI N14.27-1986 (R1993) : Carrier and Shipper Responsibilities and
Emergency Response Procedures for Highway Transportation Accidents

7: ANSI N14.29-1988 : Radioactive Materials - Guide for Writing Operating
Manuals for Packaging

8: ANSI N14.30-1992 : Nuclear Materials - Semi-Trailers Employed in the
Highway Transport of Weight-Concentrated Radioactive Loads

A list of planned, withdrawn, or under revision standards (unverified):

1: ANSI N14.2 : Tiedowns for Transport of Fissile and Radioactive
Containers Greater than One-Ton Truck Tarnsport

2: ANSI N14.7 : Guide to the Design and Use of Shipping Packages for
Type A Quantities of Radioactive Materials

3: ANSI N14.10 : Guide for Liability and Property Insurance Aspects in
Shipping Nuclear Materials

4: ANSI N14.23 : Design Basis for Resistance to Shock and Vibration of
Radioactive Material Packages Greater than One Ton in Truck Transport

5: ANSI N14.25 : Tiedowns for Rail Transport of Fissile and Radioactive
Material Containers

6: ANSI N14.26 : Fabrication, Inspection, and Preventative Maintenance of
Packaging for Radioactive Materials

If you have interest in a particular standard I'd be happy to put you in
contact with the appropriate group chair.

I'm looking for a cadre of go-getters to work on authoring a new N14.27.
