Greenpeace and education -Reply

Scott Huneycutt's suggestion the we do more to help/inform K-12 teachers about nuclear
energy and related topics suggests an unfamiliarity with the Health Physics Society's Science
Teachers' Workshop program. Many HPS Chapters are conducting such workshops. They
generally provide teachers with the information and materials (including instruments) needed to
teach their students. While these workshops are free and are designed to provide continuing
education credits, response has been mixed (i.e. 85 teachers at one workshop, then only 5 at
the next), we are trying and RADSAFE subscribers should be aware of the program. Anyone
wanting more infromation about this effort is invited to contact the HPS Secrtetariat
(hpsburkmgt@aol.com), the Baltimore-Washington Chapter (hhassoc@erols.com), their local
chapter or me.
