Description:
This is a full-time journey-person level position.  Incumbents, under 
direction, perform the more difficult and complex health physicist work: 
plan and conduct difficult studies, surveys, inspections, and investigations 
of radiologic health hazards; evaluate license applications, and determine 
compliance with law and regulations; provide consultation and assistance to 
professional and technical personnel and public and private entities and 
assist them in determining and obviating radiation hazards; supervise 
decontamination procedures in cases of radiological incidents; and conduct 
training courses.  Positions in this class are not supervisory.  Salary 
range:  $3684 - $4441/month.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience performing the duties of an Assistant Health 
Physicist in California state service;  OR possession of a valid certificate 
in diagnostic OR therapeutic radiologic technology OR nuclear medicine 
technology issued the Department;  OR possession of a health physics 
technology certificate from an accredited two-year program;
                    -AND-
Six years of experience in a public health agency,  county contract 
inspection agency, or hospital - conducting radiological investigations and 
surveys and providing advice on safe practices and compliance with radiation 
control law and regulations;  OR three years of professional experience in 
health physics or a closely related field and graduation from college with a 
major in radiologic health, engineering, mathematics, physical science, life 
science or closely related field.  (One year of graduate work in the above 
majors may be substituted for one year of required general experience.)
