JOB OPENING #2 - Principal (Supervising) HP Technician

UCLA Radiation Safety has an opening for a  Principal (Supervising) HP Tech.
Here's the official info:

"PRINCIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY TECHNICIAN:  $3040-$3663  Under the
direction of Staff Health Physicist, perform routine duties and supplemental
assignments in compliance with UCLA license and state and federal radiation
control regulations.  Collect and dispose of low-level radioactive waste.
Maintain, operate and calibrate survey instrumentation, whole body and
liquid scintillation counters.  Survey laboratories that use radioactive
materials and radiation producing machines as assigned.  Train staff
technicians and users of irradiators and radioisotopes.  Act as a working
supervisor along with another Principal Technician for five Senior Technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to
effectively communicate UCLA radiation safety policies to radiation workers
and write technical documents and procedures.  Ability to lift 50 lbs. and
handle drums weighing up to 300 lbs.  Education and experience equivalent to
B.S. degree in a closely related field and two years of relevant radiation
safety experience in an academic/medical environment.  Possess valid
California Driver's license.  Position is subjet to the California DMV's
'Pull Notice System" and an offer of employment is contingent upon proof of
satisfactory driving record.  Working knowledge of IBM or IBM compatible
