Job Title:	Health Physicist II, Radioactive Material Manager

Radioactive Material Manager Duties:

Primary responsibility is to support radioactive material (RAM) handling
throughout SLAC, including sealed source inventory and control, radioactive
material shipping and receiving, and RAM accountability.  Develop, implement
and maintain site-wide RAM accounting policies and procedures.  Ensure all
radioactive material shipments comply with all appropriate requirements,
including Department of Transportation regulations.  Examine recycle and reuse
opportunities for radioactive material.  Supervise operations in the
Radioactive
Material Storage Yard, and prepare and package radioactive waste for
characterization.  Analyze waste characterization data, and ensure compliance
with applicable waste acceptance criteria.  Coordinate waste preparation
activities with Waste Management.  Support operation and research activities
with the OHP Department Head, the Surveys and Dosimetry Groups, and the
Radiation Physics Department.  Activities include the use and analysis of a
variety of computer codes.

Skills/Experience:

The applicant should have a B.S. or M.S. in Health Physics or in the physical
sciences, with emphasis in health physics or equivalent technical training in
health physics.  Applicant must have at least five years operational health
physics experience, preferably with a focus on radioactive material handling
operations.  Desired qualifications include experience with DOT Regulations,
BRC analysis software, and low-level radioactive and mixed waste
characterization.  Applicant must be detail oriented, able to work
independently,
and must be an experience computer user.  In addition to having good written
and oral communication skills, the applicant should have first line
supervisory
experience.
