Jerry,
I looked into this last year, and it is my understanding (after speaking
with the certification division of the Radiologic Health Branch) that
dentists alone are exempt from having to take the California x-ray
examination. Because dental x-rays are so integral to the practice of
dentistry and are included as part of the dental board examination, the
state of California does not require a separate exam. All other
licentiates of the healing arts are required to take and pass the x-ray
examination(s). The dental x-ray _machines_, however, are required to be
licensed.
Hope this helps.
