We typically use leather over PC's and avoid Tyvek and stick to cotton, but
we don't do a lot of cutting (or welding).

We have a large metal shear mounted in place of the bucket on a large tracked
excavator.  It can cut large (16") I-beams, railroad rail etc.  This spring
we'll use it to cut up some older vehicles and equipment that don't have
enough salvage value to decon.
