Use of photographic film for dosimetry after TMI

With the regard to the suggestion by John Moulder & Dale Boyce that various
photographic present in place at the time of the TMI accident could be used
to get an idea of doses:

Ralph Shuping of FDA did a study using film collected from various commercial
sources to do such a study. Report circa 1980 or so. As I recall he estimated
an upper limit of the order of 20 mR comparing optical densities from the film
collected against OD obtained from similar film obtained from the manufacturer
and exposed to known amounts of gamma radiation.

There were also some film badge evaluations done at Hershey Medical Center and
other hospitals.
