What is the regulatory situation for use of this xray device? Are there
any rules that explicitly prohibit it?
Presumably it is not a 'medical' device so the FDA device
approval would not apply. Perhaps the CPSC rules apply?
Maybe the FDA electronic products act would apply, but then
that would require an explict FDA rule which might take a few years [
<|:), an understatement].
Are there any prohibitions in state rules?
How about outside the U.S., any explicit prohibitions? I have heard
stories about folks being xrayed at some air terminals. Is that really
done?
Would any corporation market a device that purposefully
exposes the public without getting some sort of explicit
regulatory approval? In effect that is what happens with
radioactive devices - they get NRC approval. On the other
hand they do not have any choice.
Not trying to increase the noise level, but would be interested in
knowledgeable replies.
