Medical Physics
defintion of a radiation expert qualified to advise radition users on
radition protection and legal implications.
Dear Maureen, here your definition:
Qualified Adviser on Radiation Safety and Regulation: Individuals that are
expert in a particular practice or spectra of practice or have highly
specialised skills in particular subjects and can be very helpful in
drafting appropriate radiation safety arrangements, according with the
Competent Authority Regulations, or to supplement the Competent Authority
technical knowledge.
As general principle, consultants can only advise and not substitute the
responsibilities of the Organization and the Radiation Protection Officer,
as well as the Competent Authority.
For a broad understanding I recommend to you the IAEA-TECDOC-663,
"Efficiency in development and implementation of safety regulations for the
use of ionizing radiation", August 1992
