I apologize since I did not see the original posting, having been 
traveling for the past few days. However, I would venture to say that 
there are many experts in many professions, fields of expertise, ALL 
of whom having no certificaton whatsoever. I always understood 
accreditation and certifications to mean that the individual, or 
organization, has pursued additional advanced work leading to some 
document demonstrating this achievement. I did not realize that there 
was a correlation between certification/accreditation and EXPERT.
