Re[2]: Medical Physics -Reply

Excellent point Sandy. I have a Health Physicist working for me right
now who is not certified, but I would consider him a true "expert" in
several areas of health physics. As a matter of fact, I would rather
have this individual working for me doing dose modeling/risk analysis
activities than any CHP I know of (including myself). I have never
felt that a certification by itself always makes one an "expert" on
anything, except maybe in test taking skills. :-)

I apologize since I did not see the original posting, having been
traveling for the past few days. However, I would venture to say that
there are many experts in many professions, fields of expertise, ALL
of whom having no certificaton whatsoever. I always understood
accreditation and certifications to mean that the individual, or
organization, has pursued additional advanced work leading to some
document demonstrating this achievement. I did not realize that there
was a correlation between certification/accreditation and EXPERT.
