Re[2]: Saturn Probe Pu Power?

I respectfully and somewhat jokingly say, "Who cares about the
insignificant amount of Pu on a satellite".

Does anyone have any insights on the post I sent the other day on the
ALARA "TEDE" evaluation thread? My response was in the unique area of
power plant steam generator maintenance and I was hoping to share
insights with others in that area. I do; however, realize that there
aren't that many person's with thoughts/experience in that particular
area on this list server. How about other jobs in general with high
external rates and high DAC value contributors? How about the other
     extreme?

This is a good area to value the opinions of those with much
     experience.

     Sincerely,
     Glen Vickers

In average soils, Thorium-232 is present at levels of 2 - 3 ppm, which
is a couple of micrograms for every gram of soil on the earth! This is
much more than a couple of tons. OK, the specic activity is much lower
for Th-232 than for Pu-238 but the availability of Th-232 is much
higher.
