Quick questions on Am-241 in smoke detectors.

     What is the "source" of the Am-241 in smoke detectors?
     
     Do the manufactures obtain Pu-241 from the DOE?
     
     Is there any reason to suspect Pu-241 contamination in the 
     detector's Am-241 source?
