MREs

MREs, according to our local Veterinary Food Inspector, are heat
pasteurized before being vacuum sealed.  Some are dry, requiring
rehydration, but others, like beans -n- franks :(  are ready to eat.

As an aside, some of the fresh fruits & veggies sold in the military
commissaries are sterilized with radiation.
