The affinity of insulating material for Radon (and Thoron) was noted in:
McCaslin, J.B., A High Energy Neutron Detector, Health Physics, 2, 399,
1960.

He described how Radon (and Thoron) are attracted to plastic
scintillators; used to detect neutrons via the C12(n,2n)C11 reaction
with a threshold of 20 mev.
