Dear Brett:

Here is a copy of a message that I have sent to your father:

I wish to propose the following simple revision to the HPS By-Laws. The
proposed revision consists of :

Article II Objectives and Purposes
Section 1. First sentence, replace the last word "protection" with the word
"safety".

Article II, Section 2. Last sentence, replace the last word "protection"
with the word "safety".

In addition, the preamble on page 7 of the Handbook needs to be updated
since it is outdated, but that probably does not require board action.

Dick Vetter suggested that your office could possibly send this proposal to
all the Board members and the members of the Rules Committee now so that the
Board will have required ten-days advanced notice before the June 29 Board
meeting in San Antonio. If approved, it could go out to the members with the
fall ballots.

I hope this is workable.
