Nucleus Inc. Alpha Spectrometry System

Hello Radsafers,

I have acquired an Alphas Spec system at a clearance sale and am having some
difficulties with the interface (lack of documentation is the major problem).

The system comprises:

                4 x Model 5300 Alpha Spectrometers
                1 x Router Multiplexer Model DMR 108
PCA 8000 and PCA TIMER card.

The PCA cards were installed in a very old Amstrad computer and have been
re-installed in an IBM compatible 386 machine using the AT recommended 9000
memory location.

The Router Multiplexer is attached to the PCA Timer card by a 37-pin ribbon
cable. Data input is via co-ax from the Router Multiplexer to the PCA card.

The problem appears to be switching/control? Data from the detectors goes as
far as the tri-state switch in the Router Multiplexer and stops there.

Question 1. There are two 8-pole digiswitches on the PCA Timer card. How
shoud these be set?

Question 2. What are the pin assignments for the 37-pin ribbon connector R/M
to Timer.

Any hints from other users of this Alpha Spec system would be appreciated.
