Excepted Packages
THIS PACKAGE CONFORMS TO THE CONDITIONS
AND LIMITATIONS SPECIFIED IN 49CFR 173.421
FOR RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL, EXCEPTED PACKAGE
-LIMITED QUANTITY OF MATERIAL UN2910
This statement appears on the outside of the packages (over-pack) I
receive. It should also appear on the shipping papers as well as the
isotope, activity and form. It is usually appended to the to/from
shipping label
Also on the very last container before the material you should have the
magenta and yellow label that says radioactive material with isotope and
activity.
The important thing is that at the surface the field must be less than 5
microSv/hr
(0.5 mrem/hr). That's usually why there is an overpack. Make sure you
have the appropriate survey meter as well.
Hope this is helpful
