cancer incidence in Japan

Group:

If one compares Hiroshima- Nagasaki to All Japan, ones finds fewer
cancer deaths in Hiroshima-Nagasaki than in All Japan.

Here's a citation that shows this.

Ron, E.; Preston, D. L.; Mabuchi, K.; Thompson, D. E.; Soda, M. Cancer
incidence in atomic bomb survivors. Part IV: Comparison of cancer
incidence and mortality. Rad. Res. 137:S98-112; Feb.1994.

Their Table II gives the distribution of cancer cases and deaths by site
or organ system. Mortality for the period 1958-1987 is given both for
Hiroshima-Nagasaki and for All Japan. The study population was the same
for each group; 80114. For "all tumors", "solid tumors", and for
"hemato-lymphopoietic tumors" including leukemia, the absolute number of
tumors is greater for "All Japan" than for "Hiroshima-Nagasaki."

When next you hear a lecture on radiation effects in humans why not ask
the speaker to discuss and comment on this matter?
