Maine Yankee closure

As some may be aware, Maine Yankee Atomic Power Co.
was attempting to negotiate a sale of itself to PECO Energy.
On Friday Aug. 1, the Maine Yankee Board of Directors
announced that negotiations had ceased and a sale to
PECO will not happen. A final, formal vote on the permanent
cessation of operation will take place on Wednesday.
Decommissioning planning will start soon after.

Original license expiration was the year 2008.

Over the next few months Maine Yankee will be downsizing a
very talented workforce. Anyone in the RADSAFE
community who knows of opportunities for nuclear
professionals is encourged to contact:
