RE: MANAGEMENT APPROVAL OF RWP'S

At the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, an ANSI N18.1 RadCon technician may
approve a Radiation Work Permit (RWP) that does not exceed a Whole Body
Dose of 250 mrem/entry, Whole Body Dose Rate of 1000 mrem/hr, Airborne
Level <50 DAC. For levels above that, a RadCon Field Operations Shift
Supervisor must approve as long as the Whole Body Dose is <500
mrem/entry, Whole Body Dose Rate <3000 mrem/hr, Extremity Dose Rate
<50000 mrem/hr or Airborne <100 DAC. Approval for entry into areas
above these limits require approval from the Site RadCon Manager.
The Operations Supervisor is required to be informed of any entries into
prohibitive high radiation areas (Whole Body Dose > 1000 mrem/hr)
