     What are the opportunities for improved human health?  Every hour
60 
     Americans die from cancer.  Every 20 seconds an American suffers a 
     heart attack.  How can the development of new treatments be 
     accelerated?
     
     To probe this question, the Nuclear Medicine Research Council of 
     Richland, WA, is holding a Symposium on September 18 and 19
entitled 
     "Accelerating Nuclear Medicine Techniques and Treatments."  Leading

     clinicians will describe recent advances in treating major diseases

     with nuclear medicine.  Nuclear medicine industry leaders together 
     with leading medical practitioners will focus on how current
barriers 
     in isotope supply, pharmaceutical manufacture, regulatory issues, 
     clinical trial performance and patient treatment can be overcome so

     that the promise of improved treatments might be delivered to
patients 
     sooner.
