Job: Associate Health Physicist Position
The Pennsylvania State University has an opening for an Associate
Health Physicist in the Radiation Protection section of the
Environmental Health and Safety office. The Associate Health
Physicist is responsible to the Manager of Radiation Protection for
coordinating all aspects of the radiation safety program, including
training, monitoring programs, waste management, report preparation,
developing new techniques and procedures, handling emergency
operations involving radiation, and acting as the University's
Radiation Safety Officeer when the Manager is not available.
This position requires a Master;s degree or equivalent knowledge,
work-related experience or 1 year up to 2 years, and a Commercial
Driver's license with HazMat endorsement. A CHP in comprehensive
practice and OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper certifications are desireable.
The Radiation Protection section currently consists of the Manager of
Radiation Protection, four Health Physics Assistants and one
part-time technician. The Pennsylvania State University possesses a
broad scope license, three other licenses, research reactor license,
and numerous state registrations for radioactive materials and x-ray
devices.
