Seventh International Conference

Hi Radsafers:

The Seventh International Conference on "Low Level Measurement of
Actindes and Long-lived Radionuclides in Biological and Environmental
Studies" to be held at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Salt Lake City,
Utah, USA; on September 21- 25, 1998.
This conference is dedicated to (late) Professor Merril Eisenbud.

In the absence of a national policy regarding the final disposal of
nuclear waste in many countries these waste are temporarily stored close
to the residential areas. The general public is rightfully concerned and
scared about the detrimental effects of nuclear wastes generated from
variety of nuclear activities. It is therefore imperative for scientists
working in the field of radiation protection to be well equipped with
the state-of-the-art techniques for measuring actinides and long-lived
radionuclide in biological and environmental samples and be able to
interpret the significance of such measurements.
The past conferences were held in: Lund, Sweden(1986), Akita City, Japan
(1988), Bombay, India (1990), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1992), Aomori
City, (1994), and COGEMA-La Hague-Cherbourg, France (1996).

The main theme of the conference is to discuss the development of
techniques, interpretation of the results obtained from such
measurements, utilization of existing and modified models to predict the
organ/ or body burden of radionuclides, and how to use these
state-of-the-art techniques in radiation protection. Topics are: (1)
Sample Collection, (2) Method Development, (3) Macro and Micro
Distribution in Man, (4) Environmental Behavior, (5) Quality Control.

Visits to the natural treasures of Utah and many social events are
planned for the spouses and the delegates. Besides these cultural and
social programs, many respectable and highly renowned scientists are
expected to attend this conference.

If you wish to attend this conference and become a part of this great
team, please submit your abstract and / or preliminary registration
before November 30, 1997 to Dr. N.P. Singh (Conference President) at
following address:
