Re: Plutonium Toxicity



To put Pu risk in perspective, I compare Pu-239 with Ra-226 and Th-232 both of
which are very common natural radioisotopes and are released in burning coal.

These three radioisotopes share all of the following:

-chemically toxic
-radioactive
-alpha emitters
-long radiological half-life
-long biological half-life
-bone seekers
-known to produce cancer with sufficiently high levels of exposure
