I seem to recall a paper in one of our magazines/journals etc., in the past
18 months or so that compared a variety of commonly used forms of MDA and LLD
equations. The paper included the derivation of of several of the equation
forms and provided the assumptions the equations were valid under. Finally,
the results of the equations were calculated under a given set of conditions
and printed in a table for comparison.

I would like to get a reference so I can get another copy - I have a
"teachable moment" at hand that's going to get away....

There was a good example of the use of MDA in an RPM article by Brodsky and
Gallagher that gave practical examples. There is also another relatively
good explanation in the ANSI N-13.30 on Bioassay that came in the HP
Newsletter a few months ago. Watch out though for the subtle differences
between cases needing the 3.29 vs. the 4.66 factor. Good Luck.
