In regards to Brad Mitchell's (TVA) post about the plethora of signs
throughout the plant...
Brad, if you are also referring to rad postings then you may want to check
with Virginia Power. They've used some methods that have been quite
helpful and successful in addition to required postings. For example, they
have easily movable stanchions with a waist high a pivoting bar that can be
placed in a doorway or opening. These are great for entryways into rad
areas, because they provide a physical barrier that an individual has to
actually move (push against it and it easily swings open), where a posting
can be accidentally missed or ignored, yet they don't block access or
vision. They've also gone to automated audible announcements for entry
into high rad areas, flashing green lights (like road construction caution
lights) for low dose waiting areas, etc... If you need a contact, email me
