Regs and safety procedures on Lasers

How many states inspect non-ionizing lasers like Texas
mentions in their solicitation for two state staff members
this afternoon. (see attachment)

Also, do any of you "radsafer's" have a good Laser
Safety/non-ionizing program that your would be willing to
share with my non-profit, city owned hospital?

(all the usual disclaimers - these are my thoughts, etc.)

Deputy Director Wesley Dunn,

In your e-mail job notice for an R.M. Lic. Inspector, you
mention the "inspection of Lasers" would be one of the
functions of this new candidate on your staff.

I work in a non-profit, community hospital and have a
question on this narrow part of his function:

	A.	Are your inspecting for the FDA much like
my state does on cotract to enforce Mammography QA on their
behalf ?

	B.	What standards are your inspecting against?

	C.	We have a Laser safety program in our
hosptial but want to improve it - do you have copies of
Texas standards, training materials or model laser
safety programs that you would be willing to share with me
(never know when a Texan might have to take his boots off
here).

This non-ionizing energy is not regulated here, other than
the FDA 21 CFR standards.

Thank you in advance,
