Advance Notice: Texas Job

This is not the official notice (possibly around the turn of the
year), but we want to get the word out:

I am resigning my position, effective December 31, 1997. As such,
BRC needs a replacement. If you are interested, or know someone who
might be interested, please feel free to contact me or Ruth McBurney
(rmcburne@brc1.tdh.state.tx.us).

The position is currently under review for reclassification, which
may result in increased responsibilities and and a slightly
higher salary range.

The position currently is responsible for technical and
administrative coordination, under Matrix Management, of all
licensing activities in the State of Texas. Licensing refers to the
review and authorization of applications to use radioactive material
and is made up of five independant projects (Industrial Licensing;
Medical and Academic Licensing; Uranium Licensing; Advanced
Technical; and Special Projects). Texas administers about 1600
specific licenses and 300 general license acknowledgements. Texas is
a leader in the regulatory arena, including major programs in
industrial radiography, well logging, industrial irradiators, NORM
decon, medical uses, and waste processing. The Department of Health
does not regulate disposal of radioactive material, other than
uranium byproduct material [e.g., 11(e)(2)].

There are several competing responsibilities that can best be summed
up as "other duties as assigned". The applicant should have
significant technical, administrative and managerial expertise in
radioactive material safety programs.
