Changing Times
This is to officially announce (for the few of you who are
interested) that I am stepping down from my bully pulpit to pursue
new challenges(*) in our profession.
As one of the few people actually present at the birth of this
critter we call =radsafe=, I've watched its growth from a variety
of perspectives. And while the signal/noise ratio gets out of hand
at times, over all, ya'll do good and provide a real service to the
HP and user communities. So continue speaking up (and out).
I'd also like to make a plug for career changes. When I came down
here, I always said I was putting in my time in purgatory but that
every practicing HP should consider spending some time working for
the regulators (and every regulator should spend some time working as
a practicing HP!). I've stated this several times before, but the
change in perspective is valuable for both sides -- and the base
assumptions each side holds about the other is rather frightening at
times. Once again I'll point out that the vast majority of RSOs are
NOT HPs and don't really know what an HP is. On the other hand, my
time is now up and its someone else's turn(**).
So long for now (hopefully, I'll be hooked back up in a few
weeks/months). For those wishing to take one last shot, I'll
probably read my email Monday when I finish cleaning out my office.

(*) for details, go to your favorite stock news WWW site --
quote.yahoo.com works -- and pull up the 12/2/97 news release for
INIS. It isn't 100% accurate, but generally close.
(**) for those willing to try (and can afford the salary), keep
checking the TDH jobsite every week or so. I'll try to make sure
word gets out when muy job is posted.
