RE: Revco Freezers -Reply

I don't know if I'm jumping too late in the train and don't know the
totality of the discussion but I would agree with Angela. It is too easy
(human nature helping) to bring food (read "coffee") from a rest area to
a "radioactive" area when there is no physical divider between the two
areas. So I would disallow any food consumption in any "shared and
opened areas".

Our labs have "an office area" where students or visiting scientists
can perform clerical work but it is forbiden to eat and drink in these
areas (in comparison with the closed offices). Of course, there is
designated rest areas in the research center and that is the key ! If
you don't have enough space, I agree that a divider is better then
noting and I believe that our inspectors would allow that, if proper
policies and signage are in place to identify the rest area and the
working area.
